Angry Dead Computer Please help part 2.

Originail Message
http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...threadid=65534

Heres the deal
MY PC:
AMD AthlonXP2200+
Gigabyte GA-7VAXP [dual bios]
2x 512mb 2700DDR
120gb Seagate Barracuda V
60gb Maxtor Diamond Nine Plus
Herecules Geforce Mx2 64mb Graphics
Creative Audigy Ex Sound

I cleaned all my harddrives tried to reinstall. Still got the same bull**** saying cd's were corrupt.

I updated my bios from Gigabyte - windows crashed completely [had to reinstall]

I took the hard drives out and reinstalled them on an earlier machine [diff motherboard cpu etc..]
It went all good, no errors

I took the newly installed windows hardrive and put it in my sick machine, thinkin' it would just autofind all the new devices. It did, but then froze.
I waited......

I restarted, it got to where windows boots up and had an error msg saying some file in windows was corrupt!

HERE ARE MY MAIN QUESTIONS:

1. Could an attacker of killed my Bios, is it possible

2. Could it be a faulty Motherboard?

3. Could it be a faulty Processor?

4. What should i do?

This is seriously killin' me please help anyone....

I would seriously consider testing the RAM. Virii that cause conflicts or errors so selectively as bad files are rare. I'd try to reduce the speed of the RAM if you have set it beyond its capabilities or simply try swapping it for something else and see if that helps.

Sure, it's possible...buy you would have known it. There was a virus that did have the ability to totally scramble the BIOS, but if this happened, your system wouldn't even start up.

Yes, that's a possibility too. Go over the motherboard and check all the capacitors for signs of leaking.

I wouldn't think so...if the CPU were defective, your system wouldn't start up. If it's just a "slight fault", I think the problems would be worse than what you're experiencing.

I would change out the IDE cables and then change out the RAM.

Also, you should have posted this to your original thread instead of starting a new one.
