Pesky Popup windows HELP!!!

I am using Windows 98 2nd edition and have a problem with popup Internet windows. I leave the system alone over night and I have 10 to 12 windows up with ads selling you name it. I am also using IE 6.0 Seems every time I surf lately I get extra windows popping up. Any idea how to find the sourcs and shut it down?

I would appreciate any help

Thanks

Just type "pop up" in the forum search and read some of the old threads. Many others have asked this same question and the solutions are many. Personally, I use free software called "Pop Up Stopper". A quick google search will offer several sites for free downloading. Good luck, we all share your frustration with pop ups. Kinda like the unwanted phone solicitors, eh?

I did the search and what I got from it was purchase or download a free copy of a pop-up stopper. I was hopeing for a setting change or un-installing something that was installed without my knowing it.
If any of you know of another fix? I am afraid of how this anti popup thing works with Norton!

Thanks
Steve

Pop up stopper works fine w/Norton Anti Virus. I have it installed on mine too. Have XP home now but used same stuff on old 98se. Used to have Norton System works, but most of it was redundant with XP, so now I only use NAV. Since Pop Up stopper is free, you might want to give it or some other blocker software a try and see how you like it.

Thanks to all of you that have helped. I have loaded the free copy of panicware software and it seems to be working. I have the little white glove in the tray protecting my system... I must say every time I go to a site I get pop-ups.
What causes that? Is it a virus? Has a setting been changed in my browser?
Again Thanks for the help.

Your panicware pop up stopper is the latest version try downloading from some website the version before it cause that comes with a built in aggresive blocker that is more better for adament website pop-ups. Sorry for the delayed info. First check your setting for you pop-up stopper if they have any built in extra functions.
