Question Virtual memory in XP

I have a P4 computer that has Windows XP Home edition and 1 gig of RAM and I keep getting this message on the screen that I am low on virtual memory and windows is going to increase it for me. Any thoughts on why this happens?
Any help appreciated.

Did you install anything then it started saying that

It happened in both my computers after I installed Norton Antivirus/Internet Security
