WinXP copy issue
I have been copying all my backed up files off CD's onto my freshly installed WinXP laptop most go ok but it seems like everytime i try to copy more then 6 or 7 files (mp3s mostly) it gives me "invalid parameter" as seen in the attached picture if it works. After one of these comes up for a certain file hardly any of them work after that. Any ideas?

i think its the file name the ---- symbales are not a valid letter to have in a file name and as the file is on a cd its reed only
so you can not change the name the only way i know to fix is open the file in notepad then save it with a diffrent name as a text file on your hdd then change the file type to what ever it was

The filesystem allows for dashes in the name. That is how I burn my CDs: track - title. Only slashes, question marks, quotes, bars, and a few other things are illegal, but not dashes or tildes.
The problem is XP and its new copy right protection scheme which does not allow you to burn MP3s of music that is the intellectual property of RIAA. Tsk, tsk, tsk. You should not be doing that. . . Nah, I am just kidding. Not very funny, huh?Are you using the native Windows burning app? What model of burner? HP? Are you doing track at once or disc at once? |

well thank you for your quick responses, the thing is I burnt these a while ago on my win2000 machine which has no problem reading these. So If I needed to that bad I could just use my win2000 machine to fix them and then bring them over to XP. Thanks for all your advice
