Registry corruption??

"C:\windows\system32\config\system is missing or corrupt"

The above message is received on a WIN XP box on boot up. It is a random problem and can go weeks between events. The only real fix that I know of is a complete reinstall of the OS, but it will come back again and haunt you.

This problem has been around for some time and does not seem to pertain to just one type of system it can be AMD and Intel and any kind of MOBO etc.

No one seem s to know how to FIX this problem and there are a lot of workarounds. But nothing that resolves the issue.

Have any of you come across this problem or know of a fix?

Thanx Jimmie

That's one of the workarounds I was talking about. It will allow you to boot up and recover your data. But, It won't stop it from happening again.
I'm wondering, if I use a completely different copy of Win XP would that solve it. Maybe some of the disks are corrupt?
