Win98 vs XP broadband speeds
Didn't know if this should be in the XP or Net section. I recently upgraded from Win98FE to XP. I was connected to a cable modem and DSLReports.com tests results were always around 950/150. Even on the morning of my install i was getting that result. By the evening after installed XP I started getting 1600/400. I do not ever recall getting such speeds. Is XP better for broadband or is it just a coincidence? It is visibly noticeable when I surf that the pages load as fast as changing channels on the tv.

XP is designed (the whole TCP/IP stack is different than 98) for broadband, with RCVwindow at 1500 by default.
98 was designed for dial-up. |
