Question outlook express folders disappeared / corrupted

Hi there,

Yesterday, my computer froze with outlook express open. After I restarted and checked my email, many of the folders had disappeared. I checked in the actual folder and all the .dbx folders were still present. I tried copying all the folders to a new location then changing the store location in the hope that it would now recognise them - but this didn't work. It seemed therefore that some of them had become corrupted.

I ran an email extractor utility I had (DBXtract) but this locked up after a bit because there were too many messages in the inbox. I tried another shareware program OE-Mail Recovery, but I'd rather not have to buy something just for this one occasion.

There seem to be stacks of utilities available - could anyone recommend a good one? Ideally I would like to just repair the .dbx files then reimport them into OE (rather than having to extract all the messages and then copy them back into folders).

Thanks in advance,

Matt.
