Hello Everyone,

I was just wondering what the minimum requirements for Windows 95 was as I am thinking of installing it on a laptop with the specs in my sig.

Thank You,

Ya... it will run on there OK... I first ran Win98 on a 486SLC 33Mhz with 8Mb. Keep the install to a minimum to conserve some of that disk space.

Yup, do a custom install, and don't get any of the fancy desktops, screensavers, or anything else you're not going to use.
Download and install IE5.5 for it, and it will make an excellent email/surfing machine.

BTW, minimum requirements are 486 SX-25 and 8mb RAM.

Published minimums for 95 original and 95A are a 386DX25 and 4mb ram. 95B needs a 486 and 8mb ram. 98FE needs a 486DX2/66 and 16mb ram, 98SE is a P-75 and 24mb ram.

With that huge hard drive, stick to 95 or 95A.

Win95 installation needs about 50 MB. For CPU look at glc's post. . .

Pentium 75 with 1,2 GB hard drive is way beyond minimum. It will run 95 nicely.
My first one was P133 with 1,2 GB HDD. Friend hat P75 with 1,08 GB HDD. We both had 95.

The Pentium CPU was the standard CPU back then when Win 95 was the standard OS.

How much ram? You may be able to put 98SE on it. See above. 98SE eats about 300mb hard drive space.
