System hangs at Ctrt + Alt + Del to boot screen

I'm running NT 4.0 SP6....Today I downloaded a critical update from Microsofts web page. After downloading the update I was promted to reboot the system. So i did. Now my system hangs at the "Press Ctrt + Alt + Del to boot" window screen. It's like the system is receiving no input from the keyboard or mouse. After awhile the backround of the screen turns black and the "Press Ctrt + Alt + Del to boot" window begins to move around. Like it's in a screen saver mode. Anyone have any ideas? thanks

NT doesn't have safe mode - just VGA mode. It does have "last known good" but that probably won't help.

Ahhh Yes, sorry I always forget the joys of NT, but isn't VGA mode pretty much like safe mode in the other versions of windows??? I forget that NT wasn't plug and play all the time too.....
