Need major help with my HD.

I have a huge problem right now and I am not really sure if this can be solved or not, but I would like to try and explain it all to you.

I wanted to install linux on my 2nd hard drive, which if F: for me. This was a 60GB HD formatted with NTFS. I used partition magic 8 to make a new 5GB linux partition. I also previously had linux on C:, but I deleted it. This HD was 20GB, but partition magic said it could resize it to 26GB...

Anyways, I applied the changes and restarted. Bad things happened from there on out. When I restarted, the linux partition on C: was NOT deleted, and I got to the Lilo boot loader from linux. I selected Windows XP and it gave me a blue screen error saying that my disk may be corrupted. Thats always nice.

This is the errror that I am getting on the blue screen:
Code:
*** STOP: 0x0000007B, 0xF78A2640, 0xC000000E, 0x00000000, 0x00000000 ***
I then booted from the Windows XP CD and went into recovery console. I tried writing a new boot sector, making a new MBR (it said mine was non-standard), but all to no avail. This previously happened on this computer I am typing this from, and making a new boot sector and new MBR fixed it right up. Not on my other computer though, still booting to that blue screen. I tried running CHKDSK C: (where windows is), and it says that it is in good condition. I then tried CHKDSK C: /P which gives me cannot read some of the drive. BUT, it says that for ALL of my drives, even the drives I have not touched.

I can use the DIR command, and see ALL of my files on C: and F: perfectly. I don't know why it doesnt boot!!

I don't understand how partition magic 8 can resize my 20GB drive to 26GB? I think this is the source of the problem since that is where Windows is installed.

ANY HELP IS VERY APPRECIATED!

Dave

Well, this is VERY interesting.

I just did a Windows Repair, not the repair console.

It now seems as if it is reinstalling Windows...haha

Doesn't really matter to me since all my main data is on my second HD, but it seems like XP already has the drivers for my video card because the resolution and everything were kept and its not like the first time I installed XP.

I'll just see what happens...

Wow, I guess I was wrong. It didn't reinstall, it just did a repair, SWEET!

All my users, data, and everything is still there, very nice. I have to congratulate Gates for this feature of XP.

Every Windows OS has had the ability to do a repair install, not just XP.
