Exclamation the danger of static in xp

I just had my pc revived from what I believe to be static electricity. I am not sure what is wrong-but when I want to start xp-there is this blue bar at the logo screen that keeps going left to right-then there the 3 blue cubes looks like leaving debris-like comets in their trails. When finish loading-all I get on the screen are vertical lines random color. And thats it. I cannot do anything anymore. Open pc in safe mode- got into windows-then the the mouse was leaving behind debris-wherever I go with the mouse-the backside had this red dots debris.that does not vaporise-its not like when the pc is slow and you get multiple mouse icons wherever you go. The only way to cure it was-pressing the refresh key lots of times. But temporary. What problem is that?
I off the pc overnight-next day still the same-then I open it ground myself-everything was normal. Does anyone have this problem?

Sounds like you have a video driver problem or a faulty video card

I think so too-but the graphic card is ok now. My friend had an identical card like mine-he bought it 2 months later than mine-now his pc could not accept that card-he went back using riva tnt2

I have to second that it sounds more like a video card driver, or video card issue.
