How do I
Hi all I have a question, I tried to find it in the search rather than start a useless tread, but can't find what I'm looking for.
I have 2 hard drives 1) is a WD SE 120 GB as my master running XP and the 2) is a WD SE 100GB running XP also, my question is what do I use for software so I can boot to the second HD like it was my only one. I have a lot of programs I want to take off because I will have the same ones on the master and just want to use it for storage. The 2 one use to be the master as it was the only one. I couldn't pass up a 120 WD SE for $100 on ebay so I bought it. thanks Chris

I went to the bios, and set boot sequence to boot first to my second HD, so I was able to boot to it no problem and uninstall all the programs I no longer want on the drive.
What I want to do is when I power up the pc I want to have a choice of which HD I want to go to. That way I don't have to keep changing the boot sequence in bios. I'm primarly going to use it to store and play my games and use it as a back up incase my new one kicks the bucket. |

Maybe change the boot.ini file. add the second HD to it that should give you the bootloader...

There are many boot loaders out there that will work, or you can fiddle with the boot.ini file to try and get it to work.
You can do it with hardware too: Romtec Trios |

I tried the boot ino thing and that won't work. I read in a book on window xp that you should be able to set up a boot ladder by installing xp and telling it to let you choose the partition you want to install xp. But the problems is it won't recognize the other HD so that is out of the question.
I can't believe you are unable to dual boot with two copies of Xp with out all of the headaches. |

Maybe you made both drives PRIMARY and ACTIVE that's why you could only boot to the second drive by changing the sequence via the BIOS. To dual boot you should only have one Active and the boot loader resides in the C drive..
