Windows 98se
I have my pc partitioned in three parts win98se installed on c:\
My question if I copy the Win98 folder off my cd and put it in a folder in D:\ , and refomated C:\ , can I install win 98se back into C:\ without using the cd. If so what is the procedure? After I format and get back to the prompt what would I type in? Thanks Just trying to make things easier. |

Hi Edday,
You could do it just fine, but if you format your C: drive you will need a bootable floppy to get back into your system. Here's how to go about it: 1) Copy the folder Win98 and all its contents to your hard drive, let us say partition D:. 2) In the Windows 98 Control Panel, select Add/Remove Programs and go to the Startup Disk tab to create a bootable Win98 Startup disk. You will need one clean (virus-free) freshly formatted floppy on hand. 3) After you have created the boot floppy, restart your system and enter the BIOS to set the boot sequence to floppy first. 4) Restart your system with the floppy in the drive to boot off it. 5)During the boot sequence, whern asked, select "Start computer without CD-ROM support (you do not need it). 6) Format your C: drive by typing "format c:" at the A:\ prompt. 5) Restart your machine and boot of the floppy again. At the A:\ prompt, type d:\Win98\Setup.exe (assuming you copied the Win98 folder off the CD to D: drive - else simply type "DIR < drive letter > at the A:\ prompt to see where the Win98 folder is located) and press Enter. Windows setup will start normally and yu can take it from there. NPP
