Notepad.exe missing in Windows XP
I cannot run Notepad becasue it said the exe file for it is missing.it must have got deleted but I can not remember doing it.Why would I ?
Is there a way to re install notepad? I dont have a windows disc. Can i download it from somewhere and install it. Thanks Andrew |

You could try using notepad + from here:

I use a program called Metapad (notepad replacement) works alot better then win notepad

Have you searched the drive for "notepad.exe"? It may still be there but the shortcut to it got messed up.
If it's still there, right click on it, point at "Send To," choose "Desktop" and a new shortcut will be created. You can then drag and drop that shortcut to wherever you want it. |

OK,the .exe file was not on the hard drive,but it did find 2 aps called notepad,one worked and the other didnt. It also found a couple of PF files
I clicked on the notepad icon that works and it opened,so i created a desktop shortcut. I wanted to open a notepad file with a serial number in it,but when clicked I got the error message,so i opened notepad from the shortcut,dragged and dropped the S/N file into the window,and hey presto,it opened.Its kind of a long way of doing it,but at least it worked.
