Windows cd-player

I am running win2000pro and when I put in a cd and open the cd player it plays but it never is able to find any of the cd information such as the track listing. If I play the cd using winamp it finds the info with no problem.

I made sure everything in the cd-player options under preferences was set but still no luck.

Any ideas?

If you're not connected to the internet when you insert a cd Media Player will be able to play it but it won't be able to identify it.
Should you want to give yourself an acute attack of paranoia you can start wondering why M$ would arrange matters like that.

Question

Okay, lets see if I understand you.
Your DSL is up and running, connection icon present in the system tray and all that, but your Medida Player does not seem to access the internet ?
The first question is how you configured Media player.
Click on View, in the menu in media player, and see if Show Playlist is checked.

It's not Windows Media Player, it's the cd-player. In Win2000pro it's under Start|Programs|Accessories|Entertainment

This is the link to M$ :http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;284971

It gives 2 links to work arounds, but, if you haven't already, you're going to have to install the Media Player.
