Hey all,
I'm building a new system, and this is what i've got inside it: Mobo: BioStar M7NCD Pro CPU: Athlon XP 2500+ Mem: PC2700 1 gig HD: Maxtor 120 gb UATA 133 HD CD: TDK VeloCD 16x DVD Video: ATI Radeon 9700 pro at 8x AGP on, and fastwrite so, having said that, here's the problem. I'm trying to install XP Corp by booting off the CDrom drive, but when i did the first time, i got the following error: BSD, that said "STOP," with a memory address Then, i switched CD rom drives. From then on, it either reboots when it says "entering Windows Setup" or locks up where i can hit enter to install Windows. Can someone tell me what's going on? Try removing all but one stick of ram during the install. I have found this to normally be causes by the RAM.

my first thought would be that maybe you have a bad copy of xp-pro corprate version, you might want to try to make another copy and try it.

Try the XP CD in another PC to see if it boots off the CD.
Try each Ram stick, one-at-a-time. Make sure the first boot device in the BIOS is set to CD-Rom. Make sure you hit a key when you see the message "Press any key to boot from CD". Use an 80 wire cable with the HD jumpered to cable select. Make sure any anti-virus options in the BIOS are disabled. Try a minmimal harware setup - CPU/HSF , Ram, Video card, CD-Rom. Try using the BIOS default/failsafe settings while installing XP. HTH |
