Hi everyone
I'm getting a BSOD under Windows XP Pro recently, the BSOD appears while playing GTA: Vice City, the message says: ------------------------------------------------------------------ DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Stop: 0x000000D1 (0x81400000, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0xE963D922) ------------------------------------------------------------------ I did some google searches, and searched M$ support site, and I found that similar messages may appear when having driver conflicts. I ran the "verifier.exe" tool that comes with Windows XP, which is supposed to check for driver conflicts, after rebooting I got another BSOD and couldn't get into Windows: --------------------------------------------- IO SYSTEM VERIFICATION ERROR IN rksample.sys (WDM DRIVER ERROR 22e) [rksample.sys+500 at F98b4500] --------------------------------------------- So I guess the problem has something to do rksample.sys, my questions are: what are WDM and rksample.sys? Is rksample.sys a driver for some piece of hardware? Any ideas how to solve the problem? Interestingly, the problem only occurs when doing a certain mission in Vice City-ice cream delivery- and only when a cop approaches the car! Everything else in Vice City, Windows, and Linux works perfectly well, but I guess it's better to fix the problem before it gets worse. System specs: ---------------------------------------- OS : Windows XP Pro CPU : Pentium 4 CPU speed: 2.4 GHz Bus speed: 533MHz Mobo : Intel D850EMV2 RAM : 256MB RDRAM Graphics : G-Force 4 Ti 4200 128Mb VRAM HDD : Maxtor 60GB Sound : on-board sound Modem : conexant ---------------------------------------- Thanks in advance. |

I believe the conflict is from your modem, you could try taking it out and see if windows loads that way but then you should try searching for and updated xp driver....
but without another modem..... might not be possible.. Oh yeah I beleive WDM is from your sound card? Last edited by Doobie; 06-17-2003 at 06:12 PM. |

thanks for your post, after checking modem driver files, I found rksample.sys so I guess it's the modem, I'll try searching for new drivers and then run the verifier again.
