bsod error when changing page file
i was at my friends house yesterday and was helping to fix the computer. no one over there even knows what a gb is so i was needed. i was going to change the page file size and i hit set then hit ok and the comp crashed. went to the bsod and this is what it said, roughly:
tech info: stop xoooooo24(oxoo19o2pa, oxf23f5ee8, oxf23f5be8,oxf9efcb8c) classpnp.sys- address f9efcb8c base at f9efcooo, datastamp 3d6de49a begining dump of memory blah blah blah. i take it all these numbers are what i need to find out whats wrong or what happened. at the beggining it also said to close all anti virus programs and defrag devices, and check for updated drivers, run chkdsk/f to check for hard drive config. how do i do that and what is it.

Pagefiles are best left up to windows. You can never stop paging in a M$ os anyway. If you boot into safemode you can/should be able to undo all the damage you did.
For more on pagefiles (and just about any other os subject) than you ever wanted to know, go to 2cpu.com and search for posts by "jeh"... |

yea i got the same analisys report from m$. the only thing i did that was different was put in a new stick of ram. my page file is at-1487mb and is recomendede at 1486mb. it used to be lower and when i installed the ram it jumped up on its own. i had it set for windows to manage it, but ive changed it in the past, recently in fact, with out a problem. im not sure if my friend put any new drivers on her comp or not. they are not really comp people and wouldnt even remember..

im thinking of taking out the new ram and seeing if that will work. my computer has been running "different" since i put it in. i dont know if maybe its the mb or the ram or just me but some stuff is umm.. different. cant really explain it, but im gunna take it out and see if that helps. oh and have you had a problem with clicking the start button and getting an error. i get this all the time. i think its that bad update that windows put out but im not sure.
