quick answer: what does fdisk /mbr do?

anyone know what fdisk /mbr will do to my hard drive if i type it in a DOS prompt?

It doesn't delete anything on the HD. Just repairs the boot sector.

Useful for removing boot sector viruses.

You want a real trip kiddo? Boot into safe mode or dos mode and type this in fdisk and answer the following questions.
