Win2K server and partitioning
I've done some searches and couldn't find a thread on this. What's the best way to split a hard drive into two partitions under Win2K server? I already tried PM7.0, but that won't work with a windows server OS.

Boot to the cd and tell it to delete whatever is on the disk, partition wise. Then you can part as you please, the cd will do it all. If 2k server is anything like 2k, if you part the disk up, it will try to make the first partition fat32. The rest of the parts can be selected as ntfs. I have had little success in making the first part ntfs from the cd boot.
It may be best to part it up with a recovery/emergency 2k disk. |

Eh... I'm not sure I get what you're saying. My situation here is I have Win2K server already installed. I'd like to split the HDD into two partitions (one for boot, one for data) without formating or killing the OS.

In that case you will need a 3rd party app (partition magic being one) unless disk management will allow you to move live partitions and data. Look into the disk management built into the 2kserver install you have. I would rather have the os part and format my drives than any 3rd party app, anyday.

Thanks. Tried that, and it worked. Good suggestion.
(Actually, I'd forgotten that utility existed. )
