computer clicks
i having problem with my comp its winME and a compaq presario 64 ram and p3 my computer clicks and for some reason its doing it alot now...it will make the usual processing noise but then it clicks and some times the clicks are less then 3 seconds apart making my connection seem as if its a dial-up i have cable though :\ its drivin me crazy
any ideas on how to fix?bounty

is there a possibility its your harddrive?mine went yesterday but it was quite loud.

i had this computer for about 3 years i think...whats the average lifespan of a hd?

i dont think there is any set time ,but mine was about 4 years,i think the warranty is three,what type of drive is it,if you can find out ,you can download a utility to test it.make sure you back up your data

You can buy a HDD today and have it bad tomorrow. There is no set time, but if the noise sounds like a click and with a clonk, then it's probably the HDD. In that case if you still want to continue using this PC (but my recommendation is replace it) then get another HDD, make it a slave and image the existing HDD to the slave.
