Go to the web site of the maker of your mobo.

If these drivers are for the ASUS board in your siggy then you can just use the CD that came with the motherboard. Although they are probably outdated they should do the trick. If you want updated ones then do as EzyStvy mentioned and take a trip down to ASUS.COM for newer ones.

Here is a very handy link for pc chips motherboards. Since you know what board you have all you have to do is go through the links.
http://www.stud.fernuni-hagen.de/q3998142/pcchips/ Choose these links: 1. Start your journey here if you DO KNOW which board you own! 2. Choose your mobo in the drop down list Edrod13 Last edited by edrod13; 06-24-2003 at 09:57 PM. |

This refers to the onboard PCTEL modem:
PCI Simple Commmunications Controller I unfortunatley have had the honor of working on these boards and they have an add on adapter for a modem. If you are no longer using it or someone has removed it and installed seperate PCI modem then just go into the bios and see if you can disable the onboard modem. This refers to the onboard video: --Video Controller(VGA Compatible) Sorry I just noticed that the links for the modem and video card do not have downloads. Can you tell me if you are using the add on modem that came with the mobo or have you installed a different one in a PCI slot? I aks this because I want to help you find the right driver for the modem but need to know what you have so that we don't go on a wild goose chase. Sam,
I just found the VGA driver for win2k. follow these steps: 1. Go to ww.sis.com 2. Go to Support and downloads 3. Go to download center 4. Click on the agreement 5. At the selection enter the following: Graphics intregrated chipsets SIS 620/ 5595 Win 2000 6. The file you need is 620_107_win2000.zip which is 124KB 7. Extract the zip file and you can install the video driver Your board has the SIS 620/5595 chipset and you can find various downloads there. I wait to hear from you on the modem Edrod13 |

also,I'll try the SiS driver for the VGA thing and see f it works AND...which model is it should I download from the PCtel website? |

Thats the thing we need to know if you are still working with the original modem that shipped with the mobo or has someone replaced it with a different one. If you are working with the original then I would open the case and take a look at the numbering on the PCTEL chipset. All PCTEL chips have the model number right on the chip itself and that would be best thing. Otherwise we could try looking up a manual for the board or searching the web to see if we can get an idea of what driver to use for that modem.

if you have no modem then that makes your job easier. I would say that you can either disable it by moving a jumper on the motherboard or doing it in the bios and that will get rid of that PCI COMMUNICATION device. Let me browse through the manual and see what I can come up with.

Sam,
Next to the last PCI SLOT you will see a JUMPER J11. This enables and disables the onboard modem on the mobo. Pins 1-2 enable the modem and pins 2-3 disable it. If you are not sure which pin is 1, it will have a thick white line by it for indentifying porpuses or it will be marked with the number 1 next to it. In your case you will need to move the jumper to pins 2-3 to disable it. For a better picture look at page 28 of the manual. Edrod13 |

I still need the drivers for the.. --Multimedia Audio Controller --Video Controller(VGA Compatible) Any ideas?and as for the video controller,it looks like for something on board, just going to make it clear now that I am using a PCI video card and not the integrated one |

Sam,
Thats why the one you downloaded did not work because you never posted that you where not using the onboard video and I just assumed. In order for us to help you you will have to tell us what type of card is in there. It could be an ATI, NVIDIA, S3, etc.. Can you take a peek inside and see what you can come up with. If you give me the model number I will find you the correct driver. try looking on the back part of the card and see if there is some type of paper sticker with a model number or even with the FCC #. HTH Oh are you using the onboard sound, or a separate PCI card also? Edrod13 |

The video card is a 16mb Comp USA brand card with a SiS 305 chipset,it came with a cd for the drivers but when I direct Windows to it,it still says thaty it was unable to find a driver for that device(Video Controller)
also I have found the driver for the Multimedia Audio Controller,I downloaded one for a C-Media 8738 and it seemed to work... |

Sam,
Go back to www.sis.com and then the same DOWNLOAD CENTER as you did before. Here is the correct options you are going to enter to get the correct driver: Graphics GPU SIS 305 Windows 2000 Edit: Aslo make sure that it is not trying to load a driver for the onbaord video card. For most board with onboard video, when you place a separate video card into an AGP or PCI slot then the onboard video automatically gets disabled. Some older ones you must manually disable it through a jumper or through the bios. I personally have never had to manually disable one but I think it does exist.
