Boom Software Crashing

I'm having trouble with this one machine with win2k installed on it. I have this software called EdgeCAM and everytime I open it up and go to the File Menu Pulldown and select Open, it will crash the application as soon as I highlight a file. This software works fine on other win2x boxes. Let me paste specs....

Computer: Dell Dimension XPS B1000, pentium III
OS: Windows 2000 Pro 5.00.2195
Graphics Card: nVidia GeForce2 GTS 64mb(Latest Driver)
Original Driver: 5.3.00 6/4/2000
256 Ram

No Service Pack on it...just win2k fresh off the CD. SO that would be IE5.0 I think.

Any Ideas would be helpful. Do you think that Service Pack3 would cure the problem? Or IE6? I wanted to ask before I had them install anything because they have a slow internet connection and would get even more upset if that didn't work.
