Red face OS Select;Win2k or Win2k

Once again this is for my borther's computer, when booting up,why does it ask me to select ans OS,Win2k or Win2k?I only have ONE partition of Win2k and I've tried selecting each one of them and they both take me to the same place, one and only Win2k...

Does anybody know how to remove one of them?not really a problem but it lenghtens boot up time a little...

thanks in advance..

It looks like the bootloader has two options even though they both lead to the same place. Your boot.ini file might need to be edited so that it just has one entry and boots right into windows. Anybody else have a different idea?

Edit: I think you could also right click on MY COMPUTER-PROPERTIES and then into ADVANCED. There you will see a function called STARTUP RECOVERY. Since you said they both work, here you could just pick one of the win2k's or see if one has "FASTDETECT" next to it and pick that one.

Can you tell us how many entries are in the boot.ini file. It is at the root of C: drive. You will probably have to uncheck "Show hidden files and folders" and "Hide protected operating system files." Once you see it you can open it up in notepad. Be very careful if you decide to modify the file since it could stop you from booting. it seems that at one point or another you installed the OS twice or did not finish an install and then decided to do it again.
