W2k Pro winnt folder

Greetings everyone,

Browsing through my winnt folder in win2k pro, I've noticed that a some files have accumulated over time that have very strange file names. These files properties shows them to be either empty files, or files that take up on average between 20 and 60 bytes.

Some of the file names may be a simple square box, others are a single alphabet character. Has anyone else noticed this? and is there any harm in removing these files?

My guess is that its the system's notes or system backup files. These can accumulate when you do certain things. If your really into seeing weird file names you should really look into the temp folder you can acess it through C:\WINDOWS\Temp just like that. But if these files are less than 1/10th of a 1k i wouldnt bother worrying about the size of the file or what it is for. Just leave it alone i guess.
