Considering tearing computer apart.
Im considering tearing my computer apart! Why? Very good reason. This $0n-of-@-bitch has been nothing but trouble for me. I have a gateway computer and i dont know what about gateways history but rest assured this hunk of $hit isn't worth what was paid for it when it was new. Its rediculous. Has anyone ever heard of a computer with integrated SOUND and AUDIO? Well my mobo has that im sure that this is not uncommon. But here is where the really werid **** comes around. Anyone ever seen a mobo with no PCI slots? Yes you heard me right! No PCI slots and this computer is no older than 3 years old AT MOST. I have A Pentium Celeron Processor in it 433Mhz MTX, 128MB PC100 SDRAM, 10GB fujitsu HD, and the usb and modem are integrated. What more could a general moron want. I have been highly considering getting a pavilion by HP but every one says NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO dont buy HP why whats the deal? Anyway. Im running XP Professional on here I have SP1 Installed and a slew of other updates from MICROSOFT.com I think these updates have f**** my computer up. Seriously! Before I installed any of these my computer ran smoothly? Which made me think afterwards why isntall the shnit if i didn't really need it? I dunno. But i have had nothing but problems since the install. I have lost system files and some programs will no longer run because of it. I just want a computer that has a tower and a LCD moniter? So if anyone knows where to get this combo at a great price PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO TELL ME! Im soooo sick of this thing its not funny. Oh and if your wondering what an ASTRO is and what it's selling for look it right here! _________>
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=42162 Im just fed up with this thing. My only problem to really post here was a CONSTANT AND VERY ANOYYING GOD DAM LAG! I keep getting a lag when i type using the AIM software. Does anyone know if this is uncommon? A freind of mine says i have a virus. I did a scan and my computer says it does not. ALSO!!!! Doesnt anyone know where to find the shortcut to REPAIR WINDOWS XP? Thanks mucjh.

Yes indeed on my computer it said that it was for ONLY WINDOWS 98SE Well i proved them wrong. I have had 98, 2K, and XP Pro which im on now and it doesnt have a problem with it. Oh yeh i contacted Gateway the other day about changing RAM. The guy told me my computer is non-user upgradeable. I went to the store bought ram tore it apart took three pictures and sent it back to him. I never got a responce back. I simply put once sentance in the body of the E-mail it said... "Yup its not upgradeable" I found this to abnormaly humourous! Ha... Anyway more matters to ask here so ill be back later

Is it a LEGAL copy of WinXP? Im not accusing you or anything, but that is a common problem with pirated copies using SP1 and updates. Microsoft used software that will damage system files and corrupt program data when the SP1 is installed on an illegal copy. (i'm talking about the notorious D6VY6-...-...-...-... WinXP copy that everyone of my friends seems to be using)...
if it is a LEGAL copy then just try a simple restore first

If you are not going to build a PC yourself then I recommend you take a look at Dell they seem to be about the best as far as manufactures go. Pick a model you like and post back here at PCMech and see what the feedback is on the system.

Keep the old gateway for browsing and email and stuff, and build yourself a real computer. Study up and see what parts are best and plan accordingly.

RenamonXP if you do build your own PC you can take the HD and ram out of that gatway or if you buy one put the gatway HD out and use it as a backup on you newer pc
