Playing with MSCONFIG

Is there anyway to remove items that are not in use in the startup section of MSCONFIG? In the image attatched is what im trying to say. Remove items that no longer need to be in the list it self.

I guess this will relate to the matter at hand. What if you uncheck a startup item and you delete it from msconfig using regedit? I got rid of the entry, re-used the program once and it made another startup entry in msconfig. Is there anyway of keeping it from doing that? Namely AIM and Webshots desktop like to do this to me.

The general idea was to get rid of entries of progs that were no longer installed. I guess when an existing prog notices that a part of its reg key is missing, it puts it back (if it can).

I don' t know AIM well, but try looking for a option so that a tray icon is not loaded. Then delete the key.

For AIM, there is an item in preferences that you can uncheck for AIM not to start with windows.
