Hi all,
Windows 2000 sp3: Networked computer: I recently removed the everyone user from the security settings on the c: drive, result... now my computer cannot boot to the Ctrl alt Del screen it seems to boots up normally I get the Windows 2000 logo and the dotted lines display and seems to run fine, then the screen goes to the light blue and hangs. I tried all of the boot modes ... safe, last known good menu, I tried booting with the cd and repair, this won't work because it won't allow me to copy or replace any files, I know its not the cd, I tried 3 of them. any help needed! |

i think you will have to deleat the partition and format the hdd and reinstall win2k if you use ntfs file systom as removing the everyone user has removed all log on securty setings and the ntfs file systom will not let you in you may be abble to slave the hdd to another 2k or xp computer and get your data off the drive

"Microsoft does not recommend removing the Everyone group from the root directory permissions of a Windows NT file system (NTFS) formatted partition."
hehe Looks like Sir andyms18a was right on the money with his second recommendation. Formating is always an option, too, though. Always consult the MS Knowledge base. That is why it is there. |
