Try a different stick of RAM. Or if you have several sticks in, try with just one.

If it suddenly works, you can use MemoryDoc over at http://www.simmtester.com to test the troublesome sticks.

Scan your installation media, too, especially if it's a media other than the original MS CD. There are several viruses that cause that error. Some of the recent antivirus programs will boot right from their CD, and run an emergency scan from DOS. Takes about an hour or so, but works (Norton Antivirus 2003 can do this)

You can also try entering your Bios Setup screens at startup, and selecting "Load Default Settings and Exit" - since incorrect Bios settings can cause this.

Here's a Knowledge Base article over on the Microsoft site with more details: http://support.microsoft.com/default...NoWebContent=1

Best of luck
