annoying net sent popups
hey everyone, i know this has been posted here before, but i couldn't find the thread.
my computer has been getting annoying popup ads that look like they were sent using the net send command. they come about every 5 minutes. my computer acts as the internet gateway on my network, and when the connection is idle for 5 minutes, it's supposed to disconnect... but, since i get these messages too often, it's never idle. so after i've gone to bed and my brothers are still using the network, it usually disconnects and turns itself off, but the last two nights when i work up in the morning it's still been on and connected. does anyone know a way to get rid of these ads? or is there a way to disable to the net messenger service?

try Start - Run - services.msc
Go to messenger, right click, properties, choose disable in the dropdown (I think this is what you're looking for Cheryl |

Also select the option "terminate now".
