modem and comport
Hi,
I am trying to install a V.92 ActionTec internal modem. The problem that I am having is that the computer keeps assigning Com4 to it. I always use com3.for my modems. I have tried to change it to com3 using properties, but it does not let me change it. I am using WindowsME Does any one have any suggestions? Thank you, Dennis |

I've had my modem on COM1, 2, 3, and 4 and they've worked on all ports (when I had the right dirvers installed

That Actiontec is probably a controllerless model. Com4 should work fine. I haven't seen jumpers on a modem in a while. Certainly not on any v.92s. Let us know if having it on Com4 is causing problems.
