XP Command Prompt

exactly how would i go about using this command prompt and where am i able to find the commands? I do know about three or four but it would help to learn this operating system. anyone with links or information, that would be helpful.

Start/Run/cmd will get you to the command prompt.

Typing in HELP will show you all of the commands.

Typing in COMMANDNAME /? will give you your options.

thank you finally some one has posted a reply to my problem... i will be using this oftern i hear that command prompt is a good wasy to learn how to use linux? is that true?

The best way to learn Linux is to use Linux.

Linux (depending on which distribution you're using) does have a GUI (Graphical User Interface) and you use a mouse to navigate the screen...just like Windows.

It does help to know command line computing (especially when troubleshooting), but it's mostly GUI based computing now.

is there any way i can screw my computer up beyond fixableness by using this command prompt? what im trying to say is if i do somethign wrong can this computer be permanantly damaged? or will it be fixable?

It depends on what you are doing. Sure, you can accidently delete files that you need, for example, but you could do that without using the command prompt.

Is there anything in particular that you want to use the command line interface for?

not really i am just a begginer in computing and i wish to further my knowledge in programming and software. is there a better way to start with basics?
