i have quesitons
recently i install both Window XP pro and windows 98 SE in my computer as a dual boot system. I wonder isnt' there a way that i can share program within both Window 98 SE and Window XP pro. For example, if i install Microsoft Office XP in Winow 98 SE. would i be able to use Office XP under Window XP Pro without actually installing Office XP in Windows XP Pro. |

There's a guide to MultiBooting right here at PC Mech: http://www.pcmech.com/show/os/334/ -that might have some helpful details for you.
If you installed Windows XP into a partition formatted with it's version of the NTFS file system, then you will have to install the programs into both operatings systems separately. XP, however, will be able to "see" and access the Win98 FAT32 files - while Win98 will not be able to do the same for the NTFS XP files. For more information on the other situation, here's an article over at Anandtech that is clearer than anything I can write. It's called "When I dual boot, do I need to install everything twice?" http://www.anandtech.com/guides/viewfaq.html?i=73 Best of luck . . . Gary |

depends on how you installed xp. if the hard drive is formatted using NTFS then you can look at and use all the FAT32 files on the 98 drive. However, using a FAT32 file system, you won't be able to use files/programs stored under a NTFS format.

If you just followed all of the defaults, then it would have been formatted NTFS.
One thing I've tried is to have a seperate parition for programs for both O/S's. The programs need to be installed from each O/S (most of the time) so that they are registered in the registry. Sometimes program sharing works, sometimes it doesn't. All you can do is try it.
