Win 2000 pro install
This may be a stupid question, but I now have a legal product key for windows 2000 that I bought from Microsoft, but my disk must have some scratches or something on it. Anyway a friend has a Compaq cd for win 2000 but it isn't the actual MS windows cd, just the one that came with his computer. Is there a way to use this cd for instal/upgrade witha a legal product key?

That disk from the Compaq probably will not work for U cause it is either a restore disk just for the specific model of Compaq or it is win2000 but will only load on the compaq PC from which it came from. I'm not of course 100 percent sure on this but just my guess...

The disk says that it is to be used with the compaq restore cd, so I don't think it's a restore cd.

Each disk has a different key. The one from the Comcrap won't work for u.
