How much ram....
How much ram can Win XP Home handle??? *supposing your mobo can handle like 4 gigs or so*

It can prolly handle as much as you can put in, but you more than likly wont need over a gig, unless your running a server, which you wouldnt run on XP home.
I dont know an exact number tho..sorry HTH |

I "think" the limit without getting into PAE is 4 gigs.

To the best of my knowledge XP Home & PRO will support 4 gigs Officially, but I have heard Reboot saying that XP Pro can utilize even more than that.

Like Win98, which had a (theoretical) finite limit of 512k, XP has it's "limit" of 4 gig.
The answer to both, is VCACHE settings, but ONLY if you have problems with instability when using more than that. "If the motherboard can support it, XP can use it", is a reasonable rule of thumb. If you're running duals (SMP), then things change a bit, especially on the Intel side. |
