I assume that you are running Windows 98 First Edition? If so, there is a CD that you can get that updates the first edition to the second edition. I dont believe that Microsoft offers the CD anymore, but check some of your local computer shops, as they may have one laying around, or check Ebay.

I got my SE updates disk from Microsoft for 20 bucs, but I think it is true that U can not get it from there anymore, If U use pricewatch.com and click software and then operating systems you'll find that SE update disk, although I've seen it there for more than the 20 I paid from Micro$, so that is whay I also assume it is not available direct from them anymore, won't hurt to check Microsofts site though..

Is there a way to do the update from a full Installation disk, or would he need the upgrade disk?
