mixed up discs

if you have 2 winxp home discs and you mixed up the serial codes, would either one work for either os install??? or would you have to use the matching one that was with the disc?

Serial numbers are independent of the CDs. So if you cross them it is no big deal.

But once crossed , if you reinstall from scratch, you probably will get an upchuck at registration if you have sorted it out in the meantime.

I would suggest using a magic marker on the computer and the CD to indicate which is which. Sometimes the holders get lost and there goes the activation code.

you can look at the windows and see what the key is on that computer, then write it down on the case somewhere.

always use the same key fot that one system and there will be no problems

I have mistyped a number or letter when installing and I got a popup saying it was wrong.

I always write the cd key on the inside of the case someplace
