cannot install XP Pro on new build
Hi,
ive just built up a new system, gigabyte 8sq800 Mobo, P4 2.66, 1gig Crucial ram and 160gig maxtor diamond max 9 IDE HD 7200rpm 8mb cache. ive set cdrom to boot first, i can get to the part of the installation where the drive gets formatted to ntfs, then the basic files are copied over. it then prompts for a restart, however, when i restart, it says press any key to boot from cd, i do so and it starts the installer from scratch again?! this is prolly a very silly problem and i havent encountered it before (installed xp numerous times on other systems) any ideas? |

Don't hit the boot to cd on the restart just let it count down and the setup will continue.

I've recently had a similar problem and it was solved by auto detecting the hard drive in the bios. Hope this helps
