Unhappy cannot install XP Pro on new build

Hi,

ive just built up a new system, gigabyte 8sq800 Mobo, P4 2.66, 1gig Crucial ram and 160gig maxtor diamond max 9 IDE HD 7200rpm 8mb cache.

ive set cdrom to boot first, i can get to the part of the installation where the drive gets formatted to ntfs, then the basic files are copied over. it then prompts for a restart, however, when i restart, it says press any key to boot from cd, i do so and it starts the installer from scratch again?!

this is prolly a very silly problem and i havent encountered it before (installed xp numerous times on other systems)

any ideas?

Don't hit the boot to cd on the restart just let it count down and the setup will continue.

I've recently had a similar problem and it was solved by auto detecting the hard drive in the bios. Hope this helps
