hey when i go to boot win xp pro from the cd to perform a repair it prompts for a password, as far as i know there was never one. i have tryed it as blank and still no luck. is there a way to find what it may be from within the os????

if you cannot get logged in as the adminstrator, sorry your out of luck

nah i can log in i just dont know the password for performing a repair. there was no password on the admin account to start with and i thought tht was the reason i couldnt repair so i added 1 and it still does not let me use what i beleave to b the admin password to repair, even tho it lets me sign into the account

first try systom restore befor the repair install

so you boot from the winxp CD to do a repair on your installation of winXP, and in the command prompt, it asks you for a password?

Ya, it will ask you for a password during recovery, but if you have never set one just hit enter. Leave it blank. I had one instance when that didn't work, and that was on my server box. The recovery password was my server password. HTH
