Whenever I boot my pc, the mouse pointer wont move. But when I pull out the mouse and reconnect it at the back of the computer, it will work. What can I do so the mouse will always work without having to unlplug it and reconnect it?
Thanks, Bigron |

it might be a driver problem. if you have the usual generic PS/2 mouse, this post is open to corrections...thanks
Assuming u hav XP or 2000: 1.)boot up in safe mode by pressing F8 before Windows starts booting up and choosing Safe Mode in the Windows Advanced options Menu. 2.)Once windows has booted up, go into Device Manager by right-clicking 'My Computer' and choosing 'Properties'. 3.) Click the Hardware Tab on the window that opens and Click 'Device Manager' 4.) Find 'Mice and other pointing devices' right-click and choose uninstall. Confirm by clicking Yes. the PS/2 mouse instance will be removed... 5.) the mouse shouldn't work from this point onward 6.) Close 'Device manager' (Alt-F4) and press the 'Windows Key' on your keyboard (in between the Left Ctrl and Alt Keys) 6.) Shut down the PC using the arrow keys to Select 'Shut Down' in Win2000 or 'Turn Off Computer' in WinXP and press Enter to select. 7.) When Windows boots up the nest time around it should detect the mouse and load the Default drivers. Hopefully u won't have anymore problems after this unless it's a hardware problem or there's something horribly wrong with your OS...
