USB Flash Drive Slows Up XP?
When I plugged in my Dazzle Zio! Compact Flash card reader, it caused XP to hang for about a minunte. Now, every time I boot there is a long pause in two different places.
When the system goes through POST to detect drives, it always hangs for about 30 secs when it says "Detecting USB mass media storage" or something like that. Once in Windows, it also hangs for about a min. the first time I click on My Computer. The little search flashlight comes up, then finally it recognizes everyting. This is the only place it seems to affect anything, and the reader does work once recognized. Any ideas on a cure? Thx.

I have seen a lot of problems with Dazzle card readers.

In XP you mean? I used it with no problems for 6 mos. in my 98se system.

This sounds normal to me. I leave my exteral usb hdd unplugged till I need it so that the machine will boot up faster.
