Problem With Outlook Express

This just started happening about 2 hours ago. Every time I try to open Outlook Express it takes FOREVER for the window to open up then it takes a while for everything to get loaded. Ive tried rebooting my pc Ive shut it down for about 10 minutes and tried it again and i still never fixed it. I dont know what to do now.

Try making sure your deleted folder is emptied and then compress the folders. If you have more than about 800 emails in any one folder, break it up into multi-subfolders.

If that doesn't work, delete the Outbox.dbx file (OE will rebuild it).

Hey ToyotaSupra, check under Tools/options in OE and see if there is a setting to sign into messenger, if so uncheck it. Seems to me there is a setting for that, I just can't remember where it is right now and I don't have access to my XP machine with OE on it at this time.

Well I did all of the following:

Deleted Temp Internet Files
Disk Defrag
Housecall Virus Scanner
SpyBot S&D
Deleted Useless Cookies

I rebooted after all of this and tried OE and it still takes forever to open up and load. I have no clue about what to do now.

This is what I did to get rid of Windows Messenger from poppin' up everytime I opened Outlook Express... look for the "Messenger" folder. It's directly under Program Files of your Drive C. Rename the said folder to "MessengerOFF."

Hope this solves your problem.

It could be in different locations. Try using Windows file finder (Start key + F) to locate it.

I've "fixed" several machines by doing that, and hopefully it will help you

Would doing a system restore and setting it to before the problem happened fix it?

Well you should be getting desperate at this point and don’t have anything else to do

Re-install MS (windows) Messenger. Find its folder and rename the folder. Might have to reboot and go straight to the folder to rename it…

Go here to get Windows Messenger.

It's a known issue. Everybody and their brother wants to stop messenger from loading. OE is is calling out to messenger and nobody's home....There are several ways to stop messenger and renaming the folder is generally the best.
