Boom IE 6 & Outlook Express keep crashing on me!

Ever since I installed the last 2 Microsoft security updates, Outlook Express and now IE 6 are crashing on a frequent basis. It happens when I am switching from one program to the other. I have done an IE & Internet Tools repair twice, to no effect.
I also notice another problem. Sometimes when I close IE 6, it asks me if I want to send an error report and then it reopens the program!

Does anyone have any idea what avenue I might take to track down these irritating problems?

I suppose I should upgrade to XP, but my local tech outfit told me not to do that with my current system: HP Pavilion 6830kr.

Help!

On the error report screen is a "detail" link/button. Click on it and let us know what the error message is.

I'm also interested to see what the error message says. There may well be something over at Microsoft's Knowledge Base that might help.

Which Windows are you running now? If you're running WinMe, you can try using the System Restore feature to return to a restore point prior to the OE & IE fisticuffs. It's in the Help & Support menus.

Thumbs up Thank you!

I removed both recent Microsoft security patches and now the problem has disappeared.
Hmmmmmmmmm...

I won't be so ready to download Windows updates anymore. They obviously don't have much quality control on their fixes! I guess that's the kind of service you get with a monopoly.
Yuck.
