Extremely weird error plus stop error

Ok, my friend has Win2K, and when he powers up, he gets the following stop error:

Quote:
*** STOP: 0x0000007F (0x00000000,0x00000000,0x00000000,0x00000000)
UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP
If I boot from the Win2K CD, setup begins loading and then gives this error:

Quote:
An unexpected error (536789056) occurred at line 1562 in D:\nt\private\ntos\boot\setup\arcdisp.c.

Press any key to continue.
If I press any key, it starts booting to windows then gives the original stop error.

Does anyone know what I can do?

my first guess is that the cpu is overheating realy fast, like maybe the fan has stoped or the fins on the heatsink my be clogged with dust

I reseated the video card and ram, then checked the cpu temp in bios. I was surprised to see it running at 147*F.

Could this be causing my friends comp to have that stop error? If so, what is the best way to remedy the situation?
