System Hanging

According to the 'Error Log', the WIA service keeps hanging.
I understand what the Windows Image Acquisition is............
but, my question is...........is it possible to 'extract' a fresh copy of it from the install disc that came with my computer ( wilthout having to "re-install" Windows XP) ?

Help

Cool

You could try the repair option. Boot with the XP CD. You will be given a option to repair or install.
Chas

Note:
The two times I've ran repair I had to reload SP1 and all the updates from MS that I had installed.

Slipstreaming WinXP and SP1 should help in this case.

If it's just happened recently, then you could always try a simple Last Known Good Configuration. If that doesn't work, then try System Restore.

I'll try that (repair). But, the last time I ran the CD (just to check exactly what was on it), I didn't notice any "repair" option.
But, with what you mentioned, it wouldn't be a big deal to reload the Service Pack.

Thanks,
garyst

Thanks guys........much appreciation !!!!!!!
Anyway....I started up my machine with the Windows XP install disc.......(I didn't see the 'repair' option)....I re-installed Windows XP. I thought I had erased everything from my hard drive (Nope !).
Apparently Windows XP 'checked' the existing "install".
And just re-installed the OS...leaving all my setting intact. TERRIFIC !!!!
But, I still want to 'thoroughly' road-test it further.....just to make sure.
Anyway, when I booted up.....clicked on MY COMPUTER.....the sub-menu popped up pretty quickly.
As for the SFC......I think that only applies to Windows 98.......(?).
Anyway.......thanks everybody...........
Now, the only thing is "returning the favor"......you know......."pay back" :-)

Sorry about that......I didn't know it was 'included' in Windows XP (via the cmd window).

Thanks,
garyst
