I seem to have lost the system information icon and all the information about my system. You know when you go to control panel then performance and maintenance ,then you click on system information? Well that complete icon is gone. How do I get it back?I have an ASUS mainboard with AMD xp 2100 processor.Running WIN XP home edition .

Might try a System Restore or boot to Last Known Good Configuration.

System Restore or a repair install, a Last known Good config will be useless.

I'd say first you should check if right clicking on "My Computer" and clicking on "Properties" brings up your system info.
If so, then you could always try repairing yoru icons... |
