Whats running
If I go into System configuration Utility, there are six items that have the block checked. However there is no description,
there is nothing in the Command column, and in the Location Column there is either HKLM or HKCU. They are then followed by/ Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Run There are about three other items that are checked and have a description, but how can I identify these six that are not identified ? Many thanks !!

Hi mike12,
List the ones in question; that way maybe someone already knows what they are... TwoRails |

TwoRails,
I have listed all the information that is there. The three items with descriptions are needed applications. It is the other six that I have no idea what they are. Those are the ones that have the box checked, with nothing else except what I noted above. |

Try taking a look at the registry keys that you have listed there and it should list the processes that you are trying to identify.

TwoRails- Yes, have run antivirus, and Adaware.
Repeat-I am in System Configeration Utility, and under the STARTUP TAB. There are three columns there. Startup Item, Command, and Location. For example, under the STARTUP ITEM column I see a box that is checked, and right beside the box it says PCCGUIDE, Under the COMMAND column I see C:\PROGRAM FILES\TREND MICRO\PC-CILLIN ETC then under the third column labeled LOCATION I see either HKCU or HKLM followed by \software\microsoft\windows\current version\run. But as I said before there are six boxes that are checked and there is nothing beside the box, or in the COMMAND column. Under the Location column, I see the HKLM or HKCU etc. I am running XP pro also. Thanks, Mike |

Hi mike12,
I'm pretty new to XP Pro as I'm setting up my first box with it right now (a spare time project). So, I hope this isn't too funny, but have you unchecked things like "hide system files" and the like under Windows Explorer? No, I don't know for sure if it would matter or not... but it may be worth a try as it's all that's comming to mind right now. TwoRails |
