error in msvbvm60.dll
hey everyone,
running windows ME on this machine, and alot of times when in internet explorer, i get an error message "explorer has caused an error in MSVBVM60.dll Explorer will now close"...so i hit close and ie closes. i have tried the "repair" in the add/remove programs thing for internet explorer but it didnt work...any suggestions? thanks |

Well, you're not alone. A quick search on Google will yield a fair number of hits over at Annoyances.org and ExpertsExchange for these types of errors. I noticed that a lot of them end up being traced to "spyware" such as KaZaa, Gator, etc. Many of the posts recommend downloading & running Search and Destroy, an antispyware program - there should be a link over at spywareinfo.com if you check their downloads page.
When done removing the spyware, you may want to try downloading and installing either a recent version of the Microsoft "Virtual Machine" or Internet Explorer. The name of the file reporting the error is "Microsoft Visual Basic Virtual Machine. Direct Link Library". Hopefully, that will get you going again. . . . Gary |

thanks for the help...turns out...that the computer got the bugbear virus, and it infected alot of windows applications, but its all fixed now
