win 98 se for $38 on ebay. why?
I notice that there are people spending up to $38 to buy the win 98se update disk on ebay when one can get it for $19.99 from a Yahoo vendor. Are the Ebay sellers offering something special, or do people tend to overspend on ebay?

Overspend in the excitement of participating in an auction and in the hopes of getting a bargain.

I've sold stuff on Ebay. I wish they would over spend on my items, lol.

Quite frankly, the disk is grey market. It's worth what people will pay. Sometimes, legacy stuff is worth more presently than when they were new.

ff2k2 has it:
the excitement of the auction tends to rob the bidder of his good senses...something will hold a strange attraction when put in a competitive setting. |

I'm one of those who would probably pay the $38 on ebay rather than the $19 from a yahoo vendor.
I would be buying it for a customer who will be underwriting the cost. So the money isn't the deciding factor. The question is of accountability. I would rather have an individual's name and address rather than one of the drop ship companies name and address. I don't need to be involved with a counterfeit piece of software, and an individual is less likely than a yahoo dealer to be involved in that business. But that is just my choice. |
