Question question

I have a gateway laptop that came with windows XP professional on it. It don't think it came with a XP disc (if it did i cant find it) but it does have a system restoration windows cd. Could i use that restoration cd to install windows on my new build? If not, could i use my old windows 98 disc? Or is it too old for the new hardware out today. Thank you for any responses.

No U can not because thats why they send a system restore disk and not a real Windows CD. That restore disk is made specifically to restore your Gateway PC...

Ok thanks, but what about the windows 98 disc? Would that work with the newer hardware?

Sorry I missed that end part about you having a win98 disk, sure it will work fine, but you will have to probably do a bit of driver installing in addition to loading win98, but as long as U have the drivers U need there is certainly nothing wrong with that. Many people still want to stay with good old win98, and they do, even on their newer machines...

You should have all the drivers U need since your new one is acustom build so just go ahead and load 98..You'll see whats missing and needs drivers fron the maunfacturer of the devive as soon as U get windows loaded...

Using the W98 CD is legal as long as that copy of W98 is not loaded on any other PC...
